  • 3 tablespoons sugar (heaping, if you like it sweet)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening (or lard)
  • 2 cups buttermilk (or canned milk)

    Directions

    1. Heat a skillet or pan over medium-high heat.
    2. Add oil (vegetable, canola, etc), butter, shortening. I used very little oil—maybe 1 tsp. Lower the heat to medium.
    3. Combine all dry ingredients and shortening and mix well.
