  • 2 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 onion (medium Sized, chopped)
  • 1 green bell pepper (medium Sized, chopped)
  • 30 ounces tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar (or Light)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 sandwich buns (split)
  • Remove All from Shopping List

    Directions

    1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the onion and green pepper over medium-high heat for 7 to 9 minutes; drain off the excess liquid.
    2. Add the remaining ingredients except the buns; mix well.
    3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    4. Serve over the hamburger buns.
