  • 20 ounces lean ground turkey (beef if you prefer)
  • 1 cup tomato sauce (preferably no salt added)
  • 1 cup salsa (fresh, medium or hot if you can handle)
  • 15 ounces pinto beans (well rinsed and drained)

    Directions

    1. In a large pot, brown the turkey for about 5-6 minutes, drain any fat if necessary.
    2. Add the remaining ingredients. I use at least 2-3 T of cayenne pepper and I usually throw some red pepper flakes in as well.
    3. Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce your heat to low to simmer for 15-20. Serve in a bowl with a bit of shredded cheese or sour cream on top. with corn bread is perfect!
