Description

Comfort food. The whole family can help with dinner. Little chefs can mix together the loaf. Adults can be in charge of baking and basting. Complete the meal with mashed potatoes, buttered green beans and chocolate cake for dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 pound ham (ground)
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 4 drops red food coloring (if desired)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon instant tapioca
  • 1/2 teaspoon horseradish
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce

    Directions

    1. In large bowl, mix together all ingredients with hands until well blended. Place mixture in loaf pan and bake at 325 degrees F. for 1 hour. Meanwhile, make sauce in small bowl, stir together ketchup, brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce. Pour sauce over Ham Loaf and bake for another 30 minutes, basting occasionally with sauce. Remove from oven when internal temperature on a thermometer reads 160 degrees; let stand 10 minutes before removing from pan. Slice to serve.
