  • 800 grams chicken (boneless and skinless, cut into 3-4cm pieces)
  • 2 garlic cloves (peeled and finely crushed)
  • 2 centimeters ginger (peeled and finely grated)
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot chilli powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 75 milliliters natural yoghurt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garam Masala (mixed Indian spices)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for brushing)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons ghee (or melted, unsalted butter)
  • 2 garlic cloves (peeled and finely chopped)

  • 1 cardamom pod (seeds lightly crushed)
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala (mixed Indian spices)
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon hot chilli powder (or to taste)
  • 275 milliliters tomato pure
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 40 grams unsalted butter
  • 100 milliliters double cream
  • 1 tablespoon chopped coriander (to garnish, optional)

    It’s not the worst thing I’ve ever eaten but I’d never make it again! Received quite the shock when it says 50mins when in fact you’re marinating chicken for 4 hours!

    I didn’t bake the chicken just cooked it slowly in a separate pan and added the sauce. It was yummy

    I liked the recipe, my wife hated it?? She felt it wasn’t ‘Indian’ enough, and I think she’s right. We’ve had much better butter chicken using other Indian type recipes. I don’t think the hot chili powder made it hot at all. Not a winner, but not awful.

    Delicious. We really enjoyed this. It is slightly complicated and the list of ingredients would have served better had they been separated for the marinade and the sauce, but the result was very good. Thank you.

    I may have over cooked my chicken which made it a little dry. However the flavor was on point! I would recommend adding more of a heat kick. Would make again
