    This took a long time to make, but it turned out amazing! I doubled the mushrooms (I do that with every recipe that asks for mushrooms), and since I only have salted butter at home, I didn’t add salt to the potatoes. I added extra pepper. I would have done the prep work for the mashed potatoes along with chopping the other veggies before I started cooking, had I looked over the recipe better first. Will definitely make this again!

    really good! Easy recipe and doesnt take long at all.
    Was a hit! Added a little extra on the spices. Next time will add some cheese to the mashed potatoes too.

    Very nice. However shepherds do not tend cows. They tend sheep. This is not a shepherd’s pie, it’s a cottage pie. A shepherd’s pie is made with ground lamb 😃

    Banging recipe. Best cottage pie I’ve ever made! Not shepherds pie btw, that’s with lamb! I omitted sour cream from the mash and grated cheese on top instead. Will 100% make again

    first time I have made a "cottage" pie and it was delicious. Have told receipt to some of my best friends and they enjoyed it too. Next time I will have minced lamb for a "shepherds"-version

    turned out amazing. i used 1 lb beef and 1/2 lb sausage. used 2 celery and 2 carrots. also ended up using a rectangular dish insteadof pie dish. will make again!!

    i made a few changes but it came out great. my husband hates onions and i didn't have any mushrooms. i cooked the potatoes and carrots in the instapot while i did the ground meet with other veggies i put corn and green beans, tomato paste, spices, and beef broth with flour. I then put in deep casserole dish. First went the ground meat and vegetables, then sprinkled cheese on top the placed the mashed potatoes on top. I baked for 20 minutes at 430 degrees. turned out well.

    This is so easy and tastes so good. I added a few things to mine like a tsp of garlic to the mushrooms. Then I added 1/4 cup of cheddar cheese to the potatoes. I put mine in mini loaf pans so everyone gets their own personal pie. I can also freeze the others for a night i don't feel like cooking.

    I've loved shepherd's pie since I was a child in England. But this is not shepherd's pie - it's cottage pie. A shepherd implies sheep, so shepherd's pie is made with ground lamb (which I prefer). When it's made with beef, it's cottage pie, though most of the rest is the same. It's a perfect winter dish in either case.
