This was easy to make, but I thought the taste was too mellow. The tomato sauce stood out too much. For the second batch, I added two more teaspoons of chile powder and doubled the other spices. This batch was delicious, without any ingredient overpowering the rest.

This turned out fantastic! Actually made more then enough sauce for what I usually use, so might double up the enchiladas next time (this could easily make 12-16). Never buying store bought sauce again!

My wife loved the beef enchiladas. I used another Yummly recipe for the enchiladas. They were noticeably salty however and I’m pretty sure the sauce contributed to that. Good and easy recipe.

This sauce is EXCELLENT! I’ve never made my own enchilada sauce from scratch and what have I been thinking?! Won’t be wasting my money on canned anymore. I read reviews prior and decided to sub onion salt for onion powder and used pink Himalayan salt for iodized salt. I didn’t feel it was salty at all! I think I also added a pinch of cayenne. I let the flavors meld and cool in the fridge until ready to use. I might start canning this!

I’ve been intimated in the past with traditional enchilada sauces. This is such a great recipe! It’s easy and flavorful and did I say easy? My family likes their sauce spicy so I boil chili’s and add the juices if I have time, otherwise cayenne pepper adds that bite they enjoy. I highly recommend this recipe - I’ve made it 4 times in the last week.

Very easy and really great. I added some lime juice and oregano for a deeper flavor. It holds in the fridge wonderfully, served with homemade tamales.
