  • 1 1/4 pounds chicken (I bought whole chicken and used half of it)
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper (Powder)
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (my addition)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter (Niter Kibbeh ~ Spiced, I used clarified butter, can substitute it with cooking oil)
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 onion (medium – large, about 1 cup when chopped)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons ginger garlic paste
  • 1 1/4 tablespoons Berbere spice mix
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder (I substituted paprika with chili powder)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder (my addition)
  • 2 teaspoons tomato sauce
  • 2 large eggs (boiled and peeled)
  • 1 cup water
  • lime juice (to taste, I didn’t use)

    I knew it would be amazing based solely on the fact that this is an Ethiopian dish! I served it with some boiled rice and it tasted amazing

    Nice, especially th berber made this meal. Next time though take the meat off the bone, otherwise so much work whilst eating. Added potted pea carrot as not enough veggies.

    This is an amazing dish! I had to reduce the amount of heat for my family, but i added Siracha for myself. Delicious served over rice.

    I wanted to change up the flavors for dinners this week and this was amazing. I made a larger batch so there would be leftovers and doubled everything but tripled the amount of chicken and water used. I definitely would recommend it if you want some good comfort food.

    Doro wat is one of the best Ethiopian food however, this recipe will need more detail info. You do need more than one onion, also you have to Cooke the sauce at list for half an hour before you add to much water or chicken. Paprika is not recommended at all...you don’t need chilly. The Berbera has the best flavor and not too spicy!
