Can't decide between a cookie and a cinnamon roll? No need to choose with these Cinnamon Roll Cookies! Sweet cinnamon filling rolled into buttery sugar cookie dough, baked and topped with a drizzle a vanilla icing.


  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract (divided)
  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour (plus more for dusting work surface)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt (divided)
  • 6 tablespoons light brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2/3 cup powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 3 teaspoons milk

    1. Place the softened butter and granulated sugar into a large bowl. Using a mixer fitted with a whisk attachment, cream together the butter and sugar on medium speed for 1 minute, or until combined.
    2. Add the egg and vanilla extract and continue to beat for 30 seconds to one minute, until light and fluffy.
    3. Turn the mixer to low, and add the flour, baking soda, and salt to the bowl. Beat the mixture for about 1 minute, until all ingredients are combined.

    Don't know why, did recipe percisely and dough was very crumbly and dry. I added extra butter and ended up just rolling them into balls and popping them in the oven. They tasted fine either way.

    Very good cookie. I got 24 cookies in this recipe that says 12 servings. Must be 2 cookies in a serving. I did add 1/4 C of sour cream after the addition of the egg and vanilla to the sugar cookie dough. I used 1/2 tsp salt (divided) because I had salted butter, and I increased the flour by just a few tablespoons because of the addition of sour cream. It definitely looked and tasted “cinnamon rolly”. I will make this again. Thank you for this cute and tasty cookie recipe!
