I have made this a couple of times and if you’re looking for actual chili, you’re going to need a lot more chili powder and cumin. If you make it per the recipe, it’s basically vegetable soup with black beans. It’s great after I fixed it, so I give my own recipe 5 stars. Lol

Had a lot of fun making this chili. I also sautéed the green peppers and celery before putting them nto the tomato mix which did help soften these ingredients. I also added an extra teaspoon of all the spices in this recipe after reading how the dish lacked flavor. Finally, I added chopped portabella mushrooms and some fake ground beef which only added to the great flavor. Overall though, this is a great dish for a winter’s night.

Turned out really good… I did add ground beef to it and cooked the peppers, onion and celery with the ground beef before adding the rest and had warm corn tortillas with it… amazing!
Also canned some of it.

My husband loved this chili. I ended up adding much more chili powder (1 Tbsp vs 1/4 tsp), as it tasted like it needed it. Will definitely make this again.

It didn’t have much flavor, had to season with lots of salt and it didn’t thicken up so much.. maybe try with less water

I added sriracha instead of chili powder, and it made it very flavorful! I suggest putting in the kale a little later than the rest of the greens if you prefer them a bit more crunchy. This is a very cozy dish for cold weather! I could see adding ground beef to it as well if you prefer it with meat.

It was delicious! We didn’t use lime or cilantro because we didn’t have it but it still tasted amazing!
