Good flavor with the sauce. we substituted a sweet and tangy Trader Joes BBQ for hoisin sauce and it turned out great. I do wish the tofu got a little crispier. Perhaps try some of the breading options discussed in other comments.

I liked this recipe a lot super easy! I wouldn’t say it’s time consuming to yourself but you do compress the tofu and then let the tofu marinate which takes time but you don’t have to be attentive. I liked the flavor and used the sauce also on my stir fry veggies. I didn’t add the sugar as I liked the flavor without that.

Surprisingly good for my first attempt with tofu. Made it without oil used, quinoa instead of rice and substituted cane sugar. Delish!

Very easy and yummy!! I make it ahead of time and serve it with rice and vegetables to bring to work where there are limited vegetarian options. I’ve made it multiple times!
